Retrieving image and catalog files using the Program Interface

The IBE, or program interface, allows one to issue calls to the archive to retrieve data in an automated fashion. This is usually a two-step process.  This is necessary due to the synoptic nature of the PTF survey. Most queries (for example, for a specific object) resolve to many different data products, because any given location on the sky has been observed many times.  Since PTF data volumes are large, it is usually desirable to select only a subset of the data.  Both the database queries and the retrieval commands are done through http.

IRSA generalized documentation for the IBE is located here. PTF-specific documentation is here.
